Carefully-tended Sidewalks

I recently added these photos to Repairs, a collection of images I started in 2004, when I decided to spend more time recording how I take in imagery, in particular, examples of marks as a result of work.

I recently visited my hometown, which is strikingly flat compared to where I live in Pittsburgh. I was out for a walk and came across these sidewalk panels that had been carefully ground down in order to return the sidewalk to its original plane.  I laughed out loud when I saw this, trying to imagine a similar effort applied to Pittsburgh sidewalks.
